Scrivener saved my business novel, Rolling Rocks Downhill, from the scrapheap. I’ve been using MS Word since 1989, and I happily used it to write the first three (rather weak) drafts of my book. Using Scrivener, all my materials reside in a single location. Citations imported from the web or pdf documents are annotated in the document notes section. Keywords make everything easy to relocate. Synopses can be cut and pasted straight from the abstract of the scientific paper or re-written to suit my own tastes. The split screen allows me to reference citations and my text draft simultaneously.
As an academic writer, I recommend Scrivener wholeheartedly to my colleagues and my students. The real testimony of the product’s worthiness is that writers use Scrivener, both beginners and expert, and find new uses for it in ways they could not have anticipated.
(Scrivener)... makes it easy to reorganise stuff and navigate through a very large document. I found the split pane feature particularly useful. The program is exceptionally stable. It's easy to use and the documentation and support are superb. I can't now imagine writing a book in any other way.
