Good day. Is there a way to change the default extension for a markdown company from filename.txt to filename.md ?

Thanks in advance.

The compile location and naming convention are considered project-level preferences. Once you use “filename.md” in a project it should go on preferring that persistently.

Since compile settings such as these are saved into the project, and the Project Template feature saves such things as compile settings, you can effectively change the default by creating your own starting project. Instructions provided in the user manual, Chapter 5, All About Projects, under Creating Your Own Templates.
